Cleansing For Your Dosha

Which cleanse is right for you?

At Nectar, we reference the ancient teachings of Ayurveda to explore the best method of cleansing for each individual.

We offer three cleanses (


Each of these cleanses supports one of the three doshas ~ a term used in Ayurvedic medicine to describe an individuals' unique mind-body constitution.

The three doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – express unique blends of physical, emotional, and mental characteristics. According to Ayurveda, health is defined as the dynamic state of balance between mind, body, and environment. Therefore, by identifying your individual dosha, you can create a lifestyle that supports your true nature, and therefore achieve and maintain, a vibrant and joyful state of health (if you're not aware of your individual dosha yet, you can take this online quiz to find out:


For Vata-types, we prescribe DIGESTION:

This is our gentlest cleanse, which is ideal for Vata-types who naturally have a cold, thin, light frame, and are prone to losing weight easily. Green juice can be overly cooling and cleansing for Vata, so we balance this detoxifying effect with grounding, nourishing root vegetable juices, like Chill Out and Tenacity.

Vata-types also have a tendency to suffer from digestive issues, so we've included Motivate in the DIGESTION cleanse. This spiced milk, contains chia seeds which are high in fibre, promote healthy stools, and help to slow-down an overworked digestive system, allowing for a sustained release of energy.

In the winter months, we do not recommend more than a 1-day juice cleanse for Vata.


For Pitta-types, we prescribe IMMUNITY:

This cleanse is full of alkalizing green juices which are soothing for out-of-balance Pitta, which is often characterized by excessive body heat, high levels of acidity, and a fiery nature. Our Courage and Devotion juices contain beneficial amounts of chlorophyll from cucumber, celery, kale, chard and parsley. These plants are also high in magnesium, which helps to alkalize the body, and deliver oxygen to cells and tissues.

Cooling, sweet fruits are balancing for Pitta, so we've also included our red apple juice Bounce in this cleanse.

Motivate, our chia and hemp seed milk with alkaline water, balances the sharp, pungent qualities of Pitta by soothing the digestive system, and cooling down the body. By balancing a Pitta's internal environment in this way, negative outward qualities, like becoming short-tempered, and argumentative, are less-likely to arise.

A 1, 3, or 5 day juice cleanse is ideal for Pitta.


For Kapha-types, we prescribe ENERGIZE:

When Kapha builds to excess, weight gain, fluid retention and allergies manifest in the body, so regular juice cleansing is especially beneficial for this body-type, which is prone to feelings of heaviness and density.

Our Devotion and Courage juices contain ginger, which is great for stimulating Kapha's slow digestion, and sharpening dull taste buds.

Bitter and astringent foods, like kale, chard, and celery are particularly important for those with a predominant Kapha constitution, as these vegetables decrease water retention, purify the blood, and aid the detoxification of a congested liver.

If you are a Kapha, we suggest a minimum of 3 days, and up to 10 days of cleansing. 


By cleansing according to our body-type, and shedding last years' unwanted layers, we can begin the new year feeling radiant and renewed. This process will amplify the distinction between seasons (cycles), allow the body to surrender in to the rest and digest phase, promote healing, and harmonize the bodily systems. The clarity, and abundance that stems from this purge, allows for deeper divulgence of our inner-worlds, and the opportunity to alchemize mind and body, to a state of flourishing unity.
